Il record raggiunto con i pannelli dell'azienda californiana è di 14,4% contro il precedente 13,4% (ottenuto sempre dalla stessa azienda), secondo quanto ha confermato lo stesso U.S Department of Energy dell'NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory). Il primato riguarda l'efficienza dei pannelli, ma già nel mese di luglio First Solar aveva raggiunto un altro record relativo alle singole celle, attestandosi sul 17,3% di efficienza.
